It is a nice place and the
owner turned out to be from Washington.
I decided I wanted to see the Benson airport so we took a drive out to
it.
It was pretty interesting looking at
the erosion on the way out. There was
one helicopter shooting touch and goes.
The DC-3 parked there needs lots of work, the fabric on the rudder and
elevators is in pretty poor shape. They
have a 1955 Dodge Coronet parked there for pilots to use.
We had lunch at the Horse Shoe Cafe, it was
done in fifties style and even had the old time jukebox selectors at the
tables.
We gave Tami a call and stopped
by there for a visit. Veda was there
also and we really enjoyed our time with them.
We went back to Mescal and they were just finishing up with the motor
home. I paid them, hooked up the Smart
Car and took this picture. Then we headed East on I10 toward New Mexico.
Texas
Canyon was really interesting Vera was busy taking pictures of the balancing rocks.
We stopped at the rest area by it and took lots
of pictures.
Then we continued East again on I10 with Lordsburg New Mexico as our goal. Now we can both say we have been in New Mexico.
We spent the
night in the rest area there.
The rest stop was really nice with lots of covered eating areas.
They had a twenty four hours limit on parking
there so we will have no problem being on the road again in about eight
hours.
The sunset was spectacular this evening.
