Easter

I didn't start taking pictures until after we ate.  Everything looked so good that it was hard to make a choice.  I ended up having lots and it was all great!

The Easter Egg hunt for Josie and Hattie was the next thing.  One of the twins helped Josie pointing out ones she ran right by when she spotted one a ways off.
The egg roll was next and Dianne ended up being the winner.
The egg toss was next and Josie came pretty close to catching Emmy's throw to her, but it hit her in the forearm, it hurt so that was all for that team.
Here is one of the egg tosses, Parker and Alissa were the winners.
The three legged Easter egg hunt for the adults was next.  Laury sent me these pictures of Michelle and James.
This does not look like it is going to end well!  Vera and I elected not to walk down to Steve and Dianne's woods to watch so I really appreciate these pictures from Laury.  Parker and Rielee were the winners with 26 eggs.  Michelle and James ended up with 15 dollars from their eggs so they were happy.
There was also a guess how many Jelly Beans are in a jar game, I am not sure who won that.  The last game was a word game where you had to write down words associated with spring for each letter in the alphabet.  I think Robin was the winner of that game.  Gabe and Desiree were excellent hosts to a great Easter.

Class Lunch

I trimmed the ferns that were covering these Easter Lilies a couple of days ago.  They have straightened up and look much better.
Today I went to the class lunch for the classes of 1957 and 1958.  There was a pretty good turn out with 19 people showing up.  It was nice to hear what everyone had been doing.  I took a panorama photo and I think it turned out pretty good.
Here is the Picture Cathy took of the classmates at the lunch today.
We had a nice visit from James today.  He came up to eat his lunch before a meeting with the teacher he will be observing next quarter.  Then he got a text that she had another commitment so he will be getting together with her Friday.

Working on Updates

Today I got February 19th, 20th and 21st posted.  I also made it to the shop for a little while.  I gave the tailgate for the trailer another coat of paint.  I also started a small repair to the only plane that got damaged during the trip from Cottage Grove.  One aileron horn had gotten broke off which is pretty minor considering how they were packed in the van.

Here is a hint about tomorrows post, BAD ROAD!

Trying to catch up

I spent the day doing posts on the blog.  Today I published February 15th, 16th, 17th and 18th.  I also did March 14 and 16th.

Here is a picture I took at the Cactus Fly In while we were in Arizona.

Washing the cars

I decided to keep up to date and work towards the middle on the missing posts of the trip to Arizona.  I added February 10th and 11th along with March 17th, 18th and 20th today.

Today we got the cars washed.  The Mitsubishi was really dirty from sitting while we were gone and the Smart Car had lots of debris from being towed.
Then we cut back the ferns by the shop so the trilliums could get some light.  Vera has been cutting back the ones by the house for the last couple of days.  The rain arrived on schedule this afternoon so that ended the outside work for a couple of days.

Clearing the trails

I went for a walk to check the trails today and started throwing some blown down limbs off.  It was going so good that I ended up doing most of the trails.  As I was clearing one trail I noticed this Easter Lily (Trillium), the first one I have seen this year.

This is how the trails looked when I got done.  After a short break we made a run to Space Age and got lawn mower gas.  Mik came up and I helped him repair the wiring for his trailer.  Then I ran over all of the trails with the mower blowing the leaves and small branches off.

Well things are kind of back to normal.  It was a beautiful day with a high of about 72.  Vera worked out in the yard today cleaning around the rhubarb.  I painted the sides for the trailer and did some mowing.  We were greeted by the daffodils being in bloom when we got home.

3-15-2024 James and I ran back down to Cottage Grove in the van to get what we could out of the motor home and pay the deposit on the repairs.  It took us 2 1/2 hours to fill the van and I had to leave a few planes with the motor home.

On the way over to 409 Automotive James noticed the mural about Buster Keaton making the film The General in and around Cottage Grove.
James drove both ways as I was tired of driving.  On the way home when we turned onto 205 the sign said 84 minutes to the I5 junction.  We were in stop and go traffic all the way and as we got out of it the steering wheel started vibrating.  We pulled off after getting into Washington and determined the left front brake had gotten hot from the stop and go and would not release.  James had been doing all the driving but I said I would try it without using the brakes.  That didn't work and we turned off at Padden parkway to get a tow.  I couldn't get through to my towing so James called Michelle and we used their family AAA service.
We were sure glad to see Michelle!
They had a bunch of accidents to respond to so they could not take the van home but offered to put it in their secure yard and bring it up tomorrow.  Michelle drove us home and we got there just a few minutes before Vera showed up with Papa Pete's Pizza for us.  Two long trying days so I slept good that night.

4-16-2024 The towing company showed up with the van a little after 8 and we spent the day unloading it.

 3-13-2024

We broke down on I5 near Cottage Grove OR this evening just before we were planning on stopping for the night.  It turned out the radiator had blown out.

3-14-2024 Good Sam finally got us a tow this morning at about 8:00 after spending the night next to I5.

You can see the tow truck drivers feet sticking out as he finishes hooking to the leaf springs.  He was happy to see that type of front end because he said hooking up to an independent suspension would have taken a long time.

I like the name they have and the driver was really nice.  They towed us to a truck parking lot in Cottage Grove and the tow driver gave us some places to try for repairs.  409 Automotive turned out to be a great place to deal with.  After getting things set up we loaded the important stuff in the Smart Car and drove home.  Our first stop was Kaiser for my INR check, then Arby's for a Market Fresh sandwich.  After eating we went up to see Mik and James to tell them about our adventures.  It sure felt good to sleep in our regular bed.

Mothers Day

Mik, Michelle and James took Vera to the Pancake House for breakfast today.  James was the first one there and we had a good time talking ...
