Excitement in the Mojave Desert

I slept much better last night, about 9 hours so I felt great this morning.  We got on the road at 10 today after dumping the holding tanks and filling up with water.  Boy was gas expensive in this area, 4.49 a gallon we had over a half tank so we continued on.  When we finally turned off of 58 to get gas I turned a corner and a half block later there was a sign that said DEAD END!  There was no warning sign as you turned into the street.  We unhooked the Smart Car and Vera turned it around while I turned the Intruder around then I hooked everything back up.  After that fiasco I pulled into the first station I came to and got 100 dollars worth at 4.31.
From there we headed toward Barstow CA, we stopped at the Tahachapi Home Depot for a couple of catches I needed for one door that kept opening and had lunch.
Leaving Tahachipi was a long climb, I stayed in the slow lane and followed the trucks.
Vera got lots of pictures of the snow and wind mills around there.
As we were going across the Mojavi desert it was really windy and the awning got blown out, talk about a horrible noise!   I stopped but couldn't do anything with it the  wind was so strong I could hardly stand up.
I pulled under this overpass about 200 yards away and got it fastened down.
It was an uneventful drive from there to Barstow on Route 66.
This is the sunset from the Walmart parking lot where we spent the night.
Vera is fixing dinner at Walmart.
