It wasn't
long before we ran across two F-4E Phantoms on display at the city park. Vera said we should try and find the Radio
Control field so I called up Google Maps on the phone and asked for the
location of the Quartzsite Radio Control Flying field. Boy were we surprised when it was about a
block behind us. We went up to it and I
met some of the members. They said I was
welcome to fly there as long as I was an AMA member.
We went back to the motor home to put things
away and I set up the solar panels to charge the batteries for my planes. I got one set done before we decided to run
down and explore some more.
There was no
parking at the main vendor area so we found another sale to look around in down
the road. I found a piece of quartz I
liked and bought it for a souvenir.
There was no one at the flying field so we headed back until we
discovered on Google Maps there was a Dairy Queen a mile and a half up the
road. After picking up a couple of
Blizzards we went back to the motor home and I finished charging batteries.
This is West of the motor home, the Ham Fest is going to take place near that flag in the middle of the picture. You can see the fire pit in the picture of the motor home.
There was another nice sunset today. This one is also looking West towards the Ham Fest.
