After a good nights
sleep we woke up to frost on the ground and the Smart Car. We got on I40 headed East about 7:30 after
Google Maps sent us down another dead end.
I discovered that I can back the Smart Car a block without
disconnecting.
After going over one pass
in the Mojavi Nature Preserve we noticed the vegetation made an abrupt change
suddenly we were seeing completely different types of plants. We could see the Providence Mountains in the distance
in that area.
We had planned on just
going to Needles but we made great time so Vera took this picture as we went through.
We are crossing the Colorado River in to Arizona, our first stop in Arizona
was at a Loves station where we turned onto 95 to fill up with gas at 2.699 a gallon.
Lake Havasu sure has a lot of stop lights,
more than we remembered from last year.
There is lots of developed areas around Lake Havasu. It had the big city feel about it.
Parker felt more like a small town and had less stop lights.
We got to Quartzsite about 3:30, after doing a little asking we found the BLM area South of town. We quite by accident ended up setting up for the night at the location
of the Ham Fest that Barry's friends planned on going to so we will be here for most of next week. I disconnected the
Smart Car and used it to go over and find out for sure this was the right
spot, then I made a run into town for a
few groceries. My last outside job was
getting the satellite dish set up. Now we have
lots of channels to watch.
Vera and I both took pictures of the sunset this evening before settling
in for the night. I think this is going
to be a nice quiet place to spend some time.
