Day Sixteen

This is Loren and Veda's house just before we headed for Tombstone this morning.
Benson has a lot of murals painted on buildings, this one was at the bottom of the hill as we left Loren and Veda's.
We parked the motor home in a free lot at the South end of Tombstone marked for RV's.  This is probably as far South as it will ever get.
We started at the South end of town and walked the full length of E. Allen Street.
When we got to the other end we found the O K Cafe, which had a lot of people in it so we thought it might have good food and decided to have breakfast there.  We were right, I noticed pecan pie listed on the chalk board so I ordered it with ice cream for my breakfast.  It was great and I got the last piece because other people saw mine and tried to order only to be told there was no more.
After breakfast we went to the Tombstone Courthouse Museum, this display had information about Tombstone's founder.
The last time I was there Barry and I really studied this tandem bike, it is unusual because both handle bars will steer it.  I can see two people fighting over which way to turn.
This is a display of various types of lights that miners use.  I found it interesting that when they used candles, they got three candles per person per shift.  My Dad used to have a carbide lamp like these in the garage, every once in a while we would light it up and play with it.
Fire was a big danger to mining towns, the information said that every mining town in the West burned at least once.  Tombstone burned twice, they had just put in a water line when they had another fire.  With the water line this one was put out and the town didn't burn.
We never knew there were so many kinds of barbed wire, they had 80 different types on display.
There was an old fashion law office upstairs along with an old court room.
Every one dresses in period clothes, the clerk on duty came out so we could get his picture.
We checked out the quilt shop I saw the last time I was here.  There was one quilt that was appraised at $4400 dollars and most of the big ones were way out of my price range.
As we were leaving one of the actors in comedy version of the Gun Fight at OK Corral posed for a picture after we talked to him.  We headed back to Barry and Mona's when we left Tombstone with another stop at Costco to fill up.  We missed one turn on the way home so we got to see some new territory.
