We had a call from Chris Gierloff last week and we arranged a visit today. We met them at Papa Pete's for lunch and then came home to show them around.
I had a great time showing them the shop and they were taking lots of pictures to show their families. We also took a walk up the driveway and I showed them everyone else's places.
Richard gave us some old family pictures and had some of their folks with him for Raymond. I got my camera out and took pictures of all he had with him. This is their mother Marge, she was the nicest lady, I always had the best time when we visited them.
This is their dad Chris, I have lots of good memories of him puttering with things in the garage. I love this 1960's riding mower he made.
Richard also had this large picture of Chris (in the middle of the seated people) during the Vanport flood.
There were also pictures of Chris's brother Ivan who was seven feet one inch tall. I can remember standing on the curb talking to him while he was standing on the pavement and I was still looking a long ways up to him.
This is a better picture of Ivan at work. We sure enjoyed the visit, it made the day extra special. I found out later that Ivan worked in a cannery.
