Monday the 28th I spent on the roof tearing off the bad plywood. Tuesday the 29 when this picture was taken I am just finishing up screwing down the two new pieces. Wednesday the 30th I had an eye appointment in the morning so no work got done on the roof as it gets really hot up there in the afternoon. I went down to the Vault for ice cream with the Wednesday church group at 1:00 after they finished Vacation Bible School.
Thursday the 31st I put the tar paper on and started putting the shingles on but the heat drove me off before I did too many. Even with gloves on the black paper was too hot to touch.
I was in need of a treat Thursday night so Vera made up this great tasting frosting that I had on graham crackers while watching the Seahawks game. It was so good I didn't stop until it was all gone.
Friday I got about half done before it got too hot on the roof. I found some insignia for the P-39, got them put on and then took it outside for a picture. Saturday I was planning on finishing up the roof but it got too hot again and I had to quit a few rows from the top.
I was up on the roof at seven this morning and I got it done before it warmed up, these 90 plus days have been a killer on the roof. I had a few shingles left over so I stored them in case we ever need them again.
I was sure happy to be finished with that job! I spent the rest of the day putting tools away and doing a little rearranging in the shop.
