New Years Day Flying

This is how it looked when I got up this morning, on the way up I didn't think I would need the skis because there was very little snow until we got within a mile of the field.  The closer we got the more there was plus it was snowing pretty hard.  When we finally got to the field there was a little over two inches on the ground and benches.
The Cub looks pretty good sitting on the snow covered bench.  The skis worked great and I had no problem taking off.  We got there a little after nine and a new member Brian was already flying.
Here I am getting the battery installed for my first flight.
I got my helicopter out and made a short flight but it was not liking the cold weather and developed a vibration.  After a couple of adjustments that did not cure it, I put it away.
It finally quit snowing and I got the Convergence out.  Changing from VTOL mode to forward flight worked great and I even did a couple of rolls during the second flight.  It was easy landing and taking off with it in the hover mode, the snow didn't bother it a bit.
Audrey had made a snowman on the bench I was using so I had to pose the Cub and transmitter with it.  I nicknamed it Cool Hand Luke because Audrey was saying her hands were cold from making it.
This was at 12:30 just before everyone headed home, it was snowing again and you can see one on the lens in line with the tree.  A patch of blue sky opened up about the same time and cool wind out of the North came with it.  We could feel the difference right away.  I had left the parking lights on so Brian gave us a jump start so we could head home.  We got settled in and I watched the Seahawks game followed by the Packers and Lions game.  While I was watching them I edited all the pictures for this and also a post on the club forum.  It was a great way to start 2017!
