Time to get caught up!

4-1-2014, April Fools Day, we did not do much today.  Vera had a little bit of a sore throat so we did not walk.  I worked on the Dr 1 a little and did a little clean up in the shop.  Vera noticed the sunset, so she took several pictures from the back deck.

4-2-2014, yesterday we got a call from the place where Marie is staying that she needed a ride to an appointment in Olympia.  After Vera got done with bible study and we had a quick lunch, we headed out. The GPS is sure a wonderful thing, it got us there with only one wrong turn and that was my fault.  After we got Marie back home and visited for a little bit, we called our friend Bob and stopped by to see him. We had a great time there and I even ended up with a couple of pieces of candy.  On the way home, I remembered I needed moss killer, so we stopped at the Chehalis Home Depot and picked it up.

4-3-2014  I spent most of the day getting things gathered up for the youth group garage sale at the church tomorrow.  I also decided to put a new operating system in the Sony laptop, it had XP and Microsoft was ending support for it.  That turned into a heck of a process.  I found out you can not go from XP to Windows 8.1, you have to install Windows 7, then upgrade that.  I got 7 installed OK, then started the Windows 8 installation.  Many hours of downloading and installation later, it told me it could not install and had returned the computer to Windows 7. After a bunch of research, I found out some Pentium 4 processors will not run Windows 8 and I had one of them.  I called it a night after that.

4-4-2014  I have gotten the stab and rudder installed on the Dr 1 over the last couple of days.  Right after breakfast, we headed down to the youth group garage sale .  Neither one of us found anything we couldn't live without, so I picked up a trowel that I might have a use for in the kitchen when we do the floor so I could make a donation.  I was out of cereal, so we headed for Fred Meyer from the church.  Vera had a pretty good list, so we ended up with a pretty big cart load.  On the way out we ran into Ed, a friend from our ham radio days. He is in his nineties and looks great!  From there we hit Home Depot again, then stopped at Kaiser to make dental cleaning appointments.  By then it was getting close to lunch, so we hit Jack in the Box.  After we got home, I got on the phone to Microsoft and I was able to get a refund for the Windows 8 download since it would not work.  Then I went to the shop and got Windows 7 pretty well set up.
This is how they showed mounting the aileron servo in the Dr 1.  I think you will be able to read the instructions in the picture, they did not make much sense to me.
This is what I did, I mounted two servos on their sides to a plate I made, it looks much better to me.
While I was waiting for one of several long downloads this evening, I decided to open up this little camera to see if I could fix it.  It is small enough that even my smallest models would carry it.  When I got it opened up, I found this little coil that had come loose, it is on the round magnet and goes where the other end of the arrow points.  That will be a test of my soldering skills!
