I originally started to call this Flying and Crashing, but Vera said Crashing and Flying was the way it went. When we arrived at the Toledo field, the first thing I did was mow and roll the runway so it would be smooth for the test flight of the Viking. On the first two tries at taking off, it barely got off the ground before stalling and making a less the gentle arrival back to earth. I took the 3 cell battery out and put in a 4 cell, now I had some real power!
That got me high enough that it broke off both motors and the nose gear when it hit!
I don't think this plane was meant to fly.
I want to Thank Audrey for taking the pictures of my planes today. Leonard is packing the plane back after she flew.
I did have a good day, I got out my trusty SU-29 and put in 5 flights before heading home. We took the long way home, when we got to the Smoky Valley Road, we went up it to try a route I saw on Google Maps. We went up the Smoky Valley Road, took the Tooley Road to the Toledo Salmon Creek Road and ended up making a big circle back to our starting point. It was a nice ride through some areas we had never seen. After we got home, I took the Viking in and pulled some of the radio gear out, put the motor home away and then settled in to watch a Pink Panther movie and some Pass Time.
