After our walk this morning we ran down to the Longview Walmart to pick up some supplies for Marie. After a quick stop at home to pick up a couple of planes we headed North. Marie was in a great mood and we visited with her until lunch time. We called our friend Bob when we left and stopped by for a visit with him. As we were leaving I spotted a doe and two fawns wandering past his place snacking on things.
We went by the property that Marie had donated to the Habitat for Humanity to see what progress had been made. The last time we stopped, there was just a foundation.
After a stop for lunch, we went down the Jackson Highway to the flying field. By the time we got there all the clouds had burned off and it was really nice.
There was no one there when we arrived, but within about twenty minutes, there was five flyers there. We had a great afternoon and I got in seven flights.
We went home via Jackson Highway and it was really a nice peaceful end to the day.

What a nice day!
It was really nice on the walk this morning. We headed to Longview right afterwards to the Kaiser flu clinic for Vera's shot, there was no crowd and she was done in about 2 minutes. From there, we went to Home Depot to pick up the 2x2's I need to finish the doors in the woodshed. Then we made a stop at Safeway for a few things and made it back home in about 2 hours, much better than our normal trip to Longview which always seems to be 3 hours minimum.
This warm weather must be fooling some of the plants, this azalea is blooming again. I hung the war birds back up and finished unloading the motor home. Vera made a batch of cocoa mounds and we took them down to the new neighbors this evening. Monday Night Football with the Seahawks winning took care of the rest of my day.

Flying at CVRCF
This picture is the Cowlitz Valley Radio Control Flyers field from the South. Right after our Noon meeting, I put the quad up with the GoPro taking a picture every 2 seconds, so I had lots to choose from.
I managed to get a picture of Mike's plane flying by during this flight.
This is Mike's plane, he bought it from me at the tailgate swap meet last month. I had two, one that I had never built, so I sold it. Mike put a better motor in it and it goes like crazy. I burned the motor in mine up last week trying a bigger battery, so I am going to put the same type motor Mike has into mine.
Today was my war bird day, I took a bunch of WWII vintage models all of which have retractable landing gear. It is lots of fun watching them go up and then making passes, the planes look a lot more real with the wheels up. I flew until about 5, then headed home, I made a quick stop for gas, pop and dinner. I spent the evening going through the 600 pictures I took today and watching the football games I recorded.

Wisteria
We moved the arbor for the Wisteria to where we had put it. Boy was it tough digging, the soil is really dry and hard plus there were lots of roots. I charged batteries and got planes loaded for flying tomorrow at Goble. I also picked up a new plane at the post office today, there will be a picture of it here soon.
Vera was out with the camera again today, I was surprised when I downloaded the camera and there was a picture of our burning bush.

Flying and Football
I sure slept good last night after all the exercise yesterday, it was 8 when I woke up. I loaded up the motor home and we headed for the flying field, getting there about 10:30. For a little while it was just Vera and I, but before the day was over 6 flyers had shown up. We had stopped at the grocery store on the way and picked up some sliced roast beef, bread, tomatoes and cheese, Vera made the best tasting sandwiches for lunch. We headed home a little earlier than normal as James had a football game tonight.
I knew it would be too dark for a good picture during the game, so I took this one during warm ups.
This is while they were waiting for the band to play the National Anthem, James is second from the left.
The team had learned a new offense this week and it worked much better. James did a great job running it and this is the most points they have scored all year. They did not win, but they sure looked a lot better!

Door
It was a little chilly on our walk this morning, a little fog or low clouds were still hanging around the Rock.
Vera made bread this morning after our walk, then she sliced it, put 3 kinds of cheese on and put it back into the oven to melt. Boy was it good, that is all that was left after lunch.
The bread must have energized me, because I went out and pulled the brake drums on the Suzuki. The left front had a frozen up brake cylinder and the shoes were worn down, so I will rebuild both sides on the front, the rear brake looked great. When I finished that, I started building a door for the firewood bin. We had a problem before with squirrels getting in there and making nests.
The magnetic wrist strap was sure handy when I was putting those little screws in the plywood.
I got it all done and it fit! I put the hinges and latch on before I quit for the day. I still have a couple of areas to seal up, but the hard part is done. We picked up dinner at BK, then we went down to Lions Pride Park and watched the fishermen while we ate. It was a nice evening, we cruised around town with the windows down before heading home. I watched Thursday Night Football until the score was 35-0, then I deleted it and watched motorcycle racing, it was a lot more interesting!
We were out on the deck watching the sunset and trying to get a picture of it, but none looked that good. I started taking pictures of the solar light, it started as a bird feeder with solar lights that I got at the family garage sale. The solar cell and batteries still worked fine, but the LED wiring was all messed up. I put a high intensity LED in the top and aimed it at a diamond shaped prism I got at Micheal's. It has been hanging out there for a couple of years now, in the background you can see the LED solar rock lights shining on the burning bush and rose bush.

Elk
I brought the game camera in today, it had been out for a couple of weeks. I was sure surprised when the first pictures were of elk. There were 4 or 5 of them that came by the camera. The calf must have been able to see the infrared flash because it and it's mom came over to check it out. I also got deer, coyote, a couple of cats and myself spraying weeds. I got the tail rotor gearbox of the Cobra torn apart to clean it. Not having been apart for maybe 20 years, it did not come apart easily, but I finally won the battle. I got a couple of holes in the sprinkle bucket repaired and painted it up with hammered paint, it turned out looking really nice. Vera made the best dessert today, the flavor is so good, I ate enough that I skipped dinner. I also noticed that the grass is really growing and will need mowing in a few days, it is amazing what a little rain will do.
Just before I came in for the evening, I got the Trex out and put in a flight while making some adjustments to the transmitter programming.
