Staples

More backseat time for me today. I can remember seeing the Weyerhaeuser bridge as a kid riding with the folks. They used to dump logs into the river at Rock Point and I would always be hoping to see it happen. The spray would fly half way across the river. Vera took me down to get the staples out of my knee this morning. My first time with staples, I have had 300 plus stitches but never staples. I was a little nervous about it, but turns out they did not hurt one bit. I was watching and could not feel them.


This afternoon Vera and I went down and picked up James after school.

We had a good time hearing about his Olympic experience. We hit Burger King and then settled in for a quiet evening at home. I showed James my technicolor leg and he took it pretty well. Nice to start having a little more normal days. My next check up is in 3 weeks and they will take Xrays then. I am curious to see what it looks like. Hopefully we can get a picture for here. We were going to take one of the staple pulling, had the camera along but both of us forgot as we were watching it done.

Playing with Ice

I picked up James like normal on Fridays. We had made arrangements for him to stay the night. So we went and picked up his clothes and Xbox. When we got home he went right over to check the pond ice I had been telling him about. It did not take long and he was out on it.

After we ate and James played on the pond some more, he wanted to go see if there was ice on the creek. There was, but not as much as the pond.

With in a minute James was flat on his back, the ice was really slippery! Then he got a rock and worked on breaking some off. He sent most of the piece he fell on floating down the creek.

He busted off this piece from the one behind him by jumping on it. Then he ventured further upstream and tried to break off another shelf of ice. It broke when he jumped on it, but he slipped and went in about knee deep. I told him it was time to head back before the cold set in. As he was climbing up one glove froze to the bridge rail. He thought that was neat so he stuck the other one on there also. I swapped gloves with him so he could drive the 4 wheeler and we headed back. It was a big adventure and we had a good time.

New Bridge

Not sure what happened here, but I got a nice picture of the cat tracks.


I went down to the creek today to check on the new bridge. They were in the final stages of welding it down. That first picture must have happened when I got the camera out.

I rode the Quad on down to the kids favorite spot and decided to take some pictures and look for a monster agate. The camera battery died after one picture, then it started to rain, so that was the end of my big adventure.
