Tuesday morning I was woken up by the phone again. It turned out Marie had broken her leg again. I had been planning on flying and Vera said I should as there was nothing I could do up there. She spent the day sitting with Marie until they transferred her to Peace Health in Vancouver.
I only took a couple of pictures today, this is our friend Steve test flying a new plane.
The plane has a bad reputation on the modeling forums and they were right because it flew terrible. It crashed and ended up going home in a bag. My propane heater and heated vest sure felt good today. After I got home Vera and I went down to the 49ER for dinner.

Another adventure
I was woken up by the phone this morning, by the time I got there it went to the answering machine. It was Marie and she left a kind of strange message. While I was telling Vera about it she called again and I let Vera get it since she hears better than I do. It turned out Marie needed some supplies, I checked and Walmart opened at six so we got dressed and headed that way. We got everything she needed and I took this picture as I filled up with gas in Kelso. It looked like it was going to be a good day for a little trip. The traffic was light all the way to Centralia, we dropped off the supplies, visited for a while and headed home. I picked up a milkshake at the Sonic drive thru and we took Jackson Hwy home. I think I could count on one hand the number of cars we met, it was a very relaxing drive home.
It was so nice out that we washed and vacuumed out the Mitsubishi this afternoon, there is very little rain in the forecast for a few days so it should stay clean. I did a little work on the Skylane, shaping the second wing tip is going much faster. I went out to fly one of the small helicopters and it turned out the wind was blowing a little stronger than I thought it was. I ended up parking it in one of our rhododendrons with only minor damage.

Way to go Eagles!
We went to church this morning, the flowers on the alter were really nice so I walked up and took a picture.
We were providing food for the coffee hour after the service, this is Vera while she was getting it set up. She made the best oatmeal cake, brownies and cocoa mounds for desert. They asked us to be the candle lighters today, that went great until it was time to put them out and transfer the flame out of the sanctuary. One of the candle lighter's wick was stuck and would not come out so Vera got to do both candles. The food we brought went over pretty well but we still have enough left overs for a couple of days. I worked in the shop until the Super Bowl had been going for a while and then went in to watch it minus the commercials. It was a great game and then the Eagles won which made it perfect.

Surprise visitor
I went to the Methodist Men's breakfast this morning. It is the first Sunday of each month, usually I forget and eat my cereal at home but today I put the postcard for it by the cups I use for breakfast as a reminder and it worked. They had french toast, bacon and hash browns, way more than I normally have so I wasn't hungry at lunch time.
I was out working in the shop when Josh called and asked if we could watch Jordon for a while. His truck quit running, he was at Gateway and needed to get it towed. I ran down, picked them up and then loaned Josh the Blazer to use. Jordon was so excited when Ava, Harper and Dianne came over, he was laughing and smiling at them. It was great fun to watch.
He is sitting up pretty good now and really interacts with everyone.
I sure had a good time playing with Jordon.
We had a nice visit with Josh when he came to pick up Jordon and we all had left over pizza from last night for dinner. Vera made cocoa mounds tonight so I had three while doing the blog and they tasted great.

The Skylane and a Birthday Party
Thursday I added a cooling tube to the battery box. It will bring some air into the lower corner of the battery box and then the air will exit out of the nose gear opening. In the afternoon Gene and Ken, modelers from the Lewis County club stopped by. We had a nice visit while showing Gene around the shop, Ken had been here before.
Today, I had a doctor's appointment and lab tests to get done at Kaiser. The doctor realized that I was one of his Monday cancelled appointments when I asked him how he was feeling. My lab tests came back tonight right where they are supposed to be. We did some shopping after leaving Kaiser, then had lunch at "Freddy's Just for the Halibut", we left there with enough left overs for another nice meal. From there we went to Safeway, then we drove home by way of the Pleasant Hill rd because it was raining pretty hard and the freeway was nasty. We never met a single car all the way to Castle Rock. James came up this afternoon and visited for a while before running down to get Dianne's birthday present. Then he moved the pellets into the shop for me. Barry showed up just as we were finishing, we visited and watched motorcycle trials on the DVR until it was time for the birthday party.
This is James and Parker during the party, Parker turned 18 on Thursday. There was a great turn out of family at the Party.
Dianne and Parker are ready to blow out the candles, Dianne's birthday was today. We had a very nice time but I sure did awful on the trivia quiz during the party, I might of had 4 or 5 out of 19 right.

Skylane Tail
Vera had bible study this morning, while she was gone I made a run to the Post Office, recycled the cans, cardboard and plastic bottles. Then I picked up some wood pellets as I was down to the last bag in the shop. James is coming up Friday and he is always happy to help me unload them. I worked on putting in an air duct to cool the Skylane's battery this afternoon. This evening I used the laser level to align the vertical fin and glued it in. I am almost to the point of covering the fuselage and tail assembly.

Church, Barry, Moon and Skylane
Monday morning I had an 8:20 AM doctors appointment, they called about 7:30 and cancelled it because the doctor had called in sick. They rescheduled me for later in the week, I hope he is well by then. I puttered on the computer until it was time for choir practice at church, then I went down to download the files off of the computer I worked on last week. It is running Windows XP so I got to sit there for quite a while as it did the transfer and listen to the choir practice which was nice. I spent most of the rest of the day cleaning my desk and organizing things for doing our Income Taxes.
I worked on the Skylane first thing this morning once "Lets make a Deal" was over. I came in for something and when I headed back out there was a strange car, as I was trying to see who it was, Barry got out, that was a big surprise.
We visited for a while and then he headed on to Olympia. Their Mazda CX 5 is sure a nice looking car.
The spinner I wanted to use on the Skylane needed the back plate bored out to fit the adapter. I got the lathe out, put the back plate in the chuck and discovered the jaws hit the rails so it would not turn. As I was pondering that I remembered they make a plate that goes under the headstock to raise it up. I was able to block the headstock and cutter up 3/4 of an inch and get the job done. Now I have a bid in for one on eBay.
I got the assembly mounted on the Skylane, it runs true and looks just the way I wanted.
James came up to mount a switch for his car stereo and mentioned the moon sure looked big. We ended up outside taking pictures and this was the best one. I tried later but there was a thin layer of clouds so I never got a clear picture.
Today was Bev's birthday so I hunted up this picture of her first birthday party at my folk's house and sent it to her.
