Monday Flying

While I was loading the last planes this morning, Vera was taking pictures of the oak tree and the smoke bush that Dianne gave us.  Every day the oak tree gets more colorful.
I even talked her into taking my picture as I was putting the last plane in.
It was a great day for flying and seven of us showed up to fly.
James stopped by on the way to see his grandpa Bob and flew his Yak 55P.
Mt St Helens doesn't look like it has any snow.
This is during my last flight of the day, I wanted to get the battery down to the storage voltage.  I got in thirteen flights today, it was a great day of flying topped off by a Seahawks win.

Trees

When we made our mail run today, I took the camera so I could get a picture of this building.  I have been taking pictures of it since 2004 as it falls down.
After we got the mail, since we had the camera we decided to get a picture of this tree at the end of Cowlitz St.  We ended up across the river to get a good picture.  From there we went out PH-10 to look at the leaves.
We found this tree out near where Growlers Gulch Road takes off PH-10, the best one today!
Our ride continued out the Delameter Road, this is on Cline Road as we came back from Delameter.
When we got home, we walked over to take pictures of vine maples by the driveway and David came by on the mower.  While we were talking to him, Sam dropped a branch in front of me and was waiting with crinkled brow for me to throw it.  I threw it a few times and then threw it backwards over my shoulder.  I am not sure where it went, but Sam couldn't find it.  The new spinners were at the post office today, so I got the the Lancair vibration fixed this afternoon.  I also got the new retracts installed in the Mustang.  I am looking forward to the next flying session.  I got in a flight on the Cobra before going in and watching a couple of episodes of American Ninja Warrior.

Bev's Visit

Our favorite rose is still blooming and it looked great with the dew on it this morning.  Later, I decided to fly the old Cobra.  When I came out of the shop with it, there was Bev's Jeep.  I went ahead and flew the flight, then I went in and we had a really nice visit with Bev.
Vera made bread for lunch, Bev was excited about having some and it was great right out of the oven.  That slice is what was left of the first loaf and I ate it shortly after taking the picture.  Late this afternoon, I finished up putting seat covers on the Blazer, something I started yesterday, but forgot to put it in my blog.

Under the Motor Home

I decided to see if I could locate the propane leak we had smelled the last time we used the motor home.  I got it jacked up and turned the gas back on, the first place I checked, I found it.  It was an easy fix, just tighten the fitting.
Vera was out helping me and she spotted Dianne's burning bushes by the play fort, so she got the camera and started taking pictures.
Dianne's maples looked great with the sun shining on them.  I also found a couple of things that needed repair from when the tire went bad, so I got all of them fixed.  Thursday Night Football took care of the rest of the day.

Lancair Vibration

This is our pet butterfly!
Even though the flowers are fading a little, the leaves are starting to make up for it with lots of color.  Vera had bible study this morning, I worked on my Lancair trying to get a vibration out of it.  I finally determined the spinner was causing it.  I didn't have one to replace it with, so I made up an order to Tower for it and some other stuff I needed.

A beautiful day for flying!

This picture was taken about 10:30 this morning before I made my first flight at Toledo.  It was one of the best days all summer, warm with very light or no wind.  I made 17 flights today on six different airplanes and three helicopters.

James' Birthday

Saturday Vera was taking pictures of the leaves and flowers when she spotted this hummingbird.
I worked on making a shelf behind the showcase Saturday and Sunday.  It looks much better with the stuff behind it covered up.
Today was James' 18th birthday!  He had a baseball game in Portland this morning, so they came up afterwards for pizza and cake with the family.
Vera had Ava and Harper put the candles on the cake, James had them help him blow them out.
It was a good time, pizza, cake, ice cream and a Seahawks win.
We went out later and drove up the road until we found a place where I could get some pictures of the eclipse.

Abernathy, Focaccia and Flying

3-14-2025 When I looked out the West window this morning it looked like snow on Abernathy.  By the time I finished my exercises and remember...
