New Cessna

Here is that new Cessna C-37 I have been working on. I made the windshield removable so I could change batteries without removing the wing.

No motor or radio gear in it yet, but you can see what it is going to look like.

It is a fair sized plane, but built fairly light so it should make a good electric.

I went over and visited at Dianne's this evening. The twins had just gotten up from a nap.

They laid down to have a bottle and their visitor Emily joined them.

Ava figured out how to stack these blocks. She also enjoyed knocking them down.

Now it is time to settle in and elevate the knee. It did pretty good today and I wasn't bothered by the swelling as much.

Shorts day

I started out the day wearing shorts as I had a doctors appointment for my knee this afternoon. I was surprised when I was comfortable all day. We went early and had lunch in Longview and did some shopping. We had time to kill, so we went and wandered around the new Walmart. It looks like it is arranged backwards to the one in Chehalis and seems a little smaller. We didn't see anything we couldn't live without, so it was off to Home Depot to window shop a little. It was finally time for my appointment so we headed over there. They were running a half hour behind so I picked out a magazine and got comfortable. When I got in to see the doctor and told him about the swelling and it always being warmer, he told me they did a study and the temperature difference is normal. After he checked the swelling we discussed it and he drew off the excess fluid and injected a small amount of cortisone to try and keep it from coming back. After my appointment we went to Freddie's for a dinner of their excellent halibut fish and chips. I took a picture of my knee to post here, but it looked kind of scary when I looked at it on the monitor. So there will be no picture today.

Road trip to Costco

I looked at the Costco flyer this morning and there were some coupons that ran out this weekend I wanted to use. Vera was all for making a run to the Vancouver Costco so off we went. Beautiful weather for a drive and the drivers on I5 were acting fairly sane. We had a good time browsing before starting to shop. It is kind of fun to just wander the isles and see what is new. We went into the bakery looking for a treat, but did not find anything really exciting so we started shopping. Over by the freezer case I found my treat, Mudslide Brownies.

I had to try one when we got done loading the car. They are pretty darn good. Then I had to have a bagel as that brownie was really rich. We had a nice trip home as traffic was still driving pretty safely. Part way home, I remembered that I had forgotten to use the coupons, Duh! After we unloaded at home, I put in a couple of flights on the Champ. The conditions were great, no wind and warm. Now that we are done with dinner I think I'll putter in the shop for a while until I have room for the Apple Strudel I picked up in the Costco Bakery.

Another great day of flying on Wednesday!

Yesterday I mentioned the sun coming through the fog, here is the picture I took.

Wednesday: I checked the Toledo Airport webcams first thing this morning and it was foggy. I kept checking back and it started clearing a little after 9 AM. I was almost all loaded except for filling the water tank. Once that was done I headed out. By the time I got there it was perfect flying weather. I got in one flight before Leonard and Audrey showed up.

Shortly after they arrived a pair of Army helicopters started flying around the area. This one has a missile on the right and a rocket launcher on the left. I hope you can see it, the person in the left seat is looking through binoculars or something.

The mountains were looking nice and bright with their new snow.

This is what I flew today! I also got the Eurofighter out after everyone left and put two flights on it for a total of 11 flights today. I had the red and green motor glider up for 35 minutes with only a 6 minute motor run by getting some good thermals. I was having such a good time I didn't even eat lunch. I stopped by and visited the lady we rent the field from for a few minutes on the way home. She is in her early 90's and doing pretty well. After putting the motor home away and eating lunch, I was ready to do this.

Stumped for a Title

I am getting behind again. Monday was a stay at home day, we didn't even make our mail run. I worked on my new Cessna and figured out a battery hatch. I also went over and visited the twins once. Auna sure has a way with them, fun to watch. I quit in the shop early to go watch Monday Night Football, followed by Pumpkin Chunking. Would you believe they can shoot a pumpkin 4000 feet!

Tuesday I worked on the Cessna some more. It was foggy this morning and I took some pictures of the sun filtering through the trees into the fog. They look pretty good on the camera. I would put them on here except the camera is in the bedroom and I am too lazy to go get it. This afternoon it got so nice I got the mower out and picked up leaves off the lawn. When I was done with that I used the mower to blow leaves and branches off the driveway. The wind and rain had really knocked a lot of them off. I had a model club meeting this evening. Afterwards I stopped by and had a nice visit with Mik and Michelle. Now we are settled in watching the World Rally in Portugal.

Trick or Treat!

I am a little behind on my blog!

Friday I worked on planes, we made a mail run and in the evening we started getting caught up on some of our recordings on the DVR. They had gotten ahead of us and we only had a few hours of recording space left. We got all of our Offroad racing ones done and started on the World Rally series.

Saturday it was more airplanes. Vera made a trip up to see her sister and had a nice visit. Then in the evening we watched the 3 days of the World Rally in Jordan. The scenery was beautiful so we decided to save that one.


Sunday was airplanes and football games while Vera went to church. After lunch, more airplane building until it was time for Trick or Treater's. The first one, little Huntress came while I was still in the shop. I had a camera in my pocket so I got a picture of her. I finished up what I was doing and went in to watch the Seahawks game I had recorded and be ready for the next kids.

It wasn't long in till Parker, Auna and Rielee showed up. They looked pretty excited, at least the girls did, I can't be sure about Parker.

Our last visitor was Princess Jillian. She said "Trick or Treat" in a real big voice.
That was about our normal number of kids, I think that long dark driveway keeps them away.

Moving Day

We went and helped Nancy, a lady from our church, move from Castle Rock to Lexington today. There was lots of help from the church so it went really well. Afterwards Vera and I ran to Longview for a couple of things. Then it was home to take it easy, my knee was a little sore from wrestling the washer and dryer. It is feeling better this evening but is still swollen. I did some work on a plane in the shop this afternoon, once while glue was drying I went over to see if the twins were there. They had already left with their dad, and just Auna and Parker were there (Steve was taking a nap and Dianne was shopping). They were a little bored and were timing each other with a stop watch to see who could hold their breath the longest. I did some more on the plane this evening after dinner. We had acorn squash and garlic bread for dinner and I knew if I did not go do something, I would be napping.
