More July and MRRCS

 7-18-2022

Today James helped me clean up the last of the snow damage from this winter.  We took the broken top out of the dogwood and cleaned up a lot of stuff that got knocked down as it fell.  We also took the top off the magnolia that got bent over by the heavy snow.

James is getting pretty good with the pole saw and really likes it.
We are getting set up to cut the top of the dogwood tree off.

7-20-2022
I started loading the motor home with planes for the Mount Rainier Radio Control Society Warbird event on Saturday.  I often take a picture like this so I can get them loaded the same for the trip home.

7-21-2022
I am ready for my first flight of the day at MRRCS.  They have a really nice club house with a wood stove, refrigerator and pop machine.

7-22-2022
We parked in the lower spot this trip because the upper one was taken.  It turns out I like it better because it is a shorter walk to the pit area.  There were quite a few campers this time.

7-23-2022
Here are some of the other club members checking out the B-36.  The guy with the phone interviewed me and put it on Facebook along with video of it flying.
It was a special day because Nadra, Kaye and Linda came to watch and visit.  Kneeling on the right is Karl, Kaye's son and president of the MRRCS club.
My P-39 is sitting along side of a smaller one.
Nadra, Kaye and Linda are sitting under Karl's sunshade where they watched me fly the B-36.  We had a great time visiting with them all afternoon.
Karl put his drone in the air and they each took turns watching the video it was sending back to the Goggles.
This is Karl's drone hovering in front of them.
Some more of the warbirds that were there.  I didn't take as many pictures as normal because I was having such a good time visiting.
Just before the sunset this doe and three point buck wandered by.
7-24-2022
I got in a few flights this morning before we headed home.  It was another great stay at MRRCS!

July

6-29-2022
We have been watching several families of little rabbits grow up this summer.  This pair lives on the South side of the parking area.  The other family lives West of the parking area, I can tell them apart because they have a much larger white spot on their foreheads.

7-1-2022

James and I trimmed a bunch of low hanging branches off the cedar tree today.
I got a cute picture of James and Vera when we were taking a break.
We had more water lilies bloom this year and they were all really pretty!

7-4-2022
Vera and I went down to Lions Pride Park again this year to watch fireworks.  It was a great display this year and we had a good parking spot to watch them.
The moon was showing up in some of my pictures so I took a picture of it also.

7-8-2022
I got the old oak tree stump cut off below ground level today.  It turned into a pretty big job but I finally got it done.  Boy was it heavy when I hauled it off.
This was exciting!  Yesterday on the way to Home Depot to pickup an order the whole tongue of the trailer broke off.  The pin for the tilt bed came out, the back of the trailer dropped down and started whipping around putting a couple of dents in the Blazer's left side.  Des and Rielee plus several other people stopped and helped us get it off the road.  One lady went and got us permission to leave it in their parking area.  There are a lot of really nice people around.  Today I put it back together now it will no longer tilt.

7-9-2022
Vera picked a bunch of her Don Juan roses and the one Carnation that was in bloom and put them on the dining room table.  Those roses smell so good.

7-13-2022
The news mentioned the Buck Moon tonight so I took this picture of it.

7-14-2022
For the last several days I have been burning the weeds and grass off the parking area.  Today I moved the motor home and finished the job.

We used the non tilting trailer to go get a load of top soil and finished leveling the spot where the stump was.

7-15-2022
I have been watering Vera's lilies every day and they are still blooming.
The Mother Hen and Chicks we have in the strawberry planter put out these flowers for the first time in the three years we have had them.
This is a close up of the flowers on the end.  I did some checking online and it is normal for Mother Hen and Chicks plants to only bloom every two or three years.  It was sure a surprise to us.

More Summer Activities at MRRCS

 6-22-2022

The weekend of the 25th we were going up to the Mt Rainier Radio Control Society EDF Jet Rally by Roy, WA.  Because of the long walk from the motor home to the pit area I asked Michelle if I could borrow her folding wagon.  James brought it up this afternoon and it fit perfectly under the dinette.  It worked great and we ended up buying one before our next trip up there.

6-23-2022

This is the view out the windshield where we parked at the MRRCS field.
Vera spent her birthday relaxing in the shade watching me fly.  It was a great spot for her, she could see everything and there was a nice breeze all day that made it very comfortable.
I spent the day putting planes together, visiting with other members who showed up to fly and flying my planes.  If you look close I am sitting down by the runway flying.   Friday the 24th was more flying and visiting with people who showed up.

6-25-2022
By 9AM quite a few flyers had shown up for the Jet Rally.
The Eurofighter on the table is one of my favorite planes, I wish I still had mine.
Mike's planes, he had eighteen of them there and flew most of them during the day.  There were twenty two registered pilots and I don't think anyone just brought one plane so there was lots to look at and watch.  Mike was parked next to us and slept in his cargo trailer with the planes.  His air mattress went flat during the night and then the power for his heat tripped out.  He spent the rest of the night sleeping in the cab of his pickup and running the motor every two hours to stay warm.  He asked if it bothered us but we never heard it.
I was sure surprised when our friends Dan and Vicky showed up to watch.  We had a nice visit with them.
My planes are on Michelle's wagon that I used to pack them down to the field.

Mt Rainier looks so peaceful in the distance.
I zoomed up on it and boy is it rugged up there!
About ten when we had settled down for the night this little forked horn came wandering by even though the other campers were still outside sitting around the firepit.

6-26-2022
I flew the F-4 this morning before taking it apart.
I put a couple of flights on the Skylane before we headed home.  It was a great four days we spent here.

Lost

Well after over 3000 posts I kind of lost ambition to do any this summer.  Repairs around home, family get togethers, flying and a couple of not too serious medical issues kept me busy.  I will post the highlights in the next couple of days.

6-9-2022 Josie's Birthday Party

It is hard to believe Josie is two already.

I was really impressed with how neat she was eating her cake.
She didn't stop eating for the group pictures with the other kids.
The race to get all the Kleenex out of the boxes was a big hit.
It was nice seeing all the family.

6-10-2022
A couple of weeks ago we went to Home Depot to pick up an order.  When we left heading to I5 we were talking and the next thing I knew we were headed towards Kalama.  We turned around at the Kalama River road and decided to come back over Carrolls Bluff.  We liked it so well that we went that route today on the way back from a dental appointment in Vancouver and I took this picture.

6-11-2022
I did some pruning on the rhodendron behind the motor home that the snow had knocked down.  Now I can get through there with the lawn mower.

6-17-2022
Debbie brought Cora and Jackie down for a weekend visit.  They took the kids down to Three Rivers Mall to play in the Family Room.  We drove down to watch and visit with Debbie and Jackie.
Debbie is helping the kids build a house with the foam blocks.

6-18-2022
On Saturday we went up to Debbie and Josh's to visit some more and  watch the kids play.
Josh fixed a delicious meal made with venison.
I took this picture of Vera and the girls just before we left.

Abernathy, Focaccia and Flying

3-14-2025 When I looked out the West window this morning it looked like snow on Abernathy.  By the time I finished my exercises and remember...
